Community
funding received for the period 1986-1999 approaches 24,000 million
pesetas, specifically 23,721.2 million pesetas.It
should be pointed out that this global figure is the sum of funding
received in three different programme subperiods and, therefore,
is the sum of non-homogenous pesetas. It is interesting to analyse
the destiny of these funds.To do so, the total aid has been divided
into six great action axes:competitiveness;
environment;
|
R & D; infrastructures and transportation; urban and cross-border
development; and employment, training and insertion into the labour
market. Taking this distribution and the difficulty of classifying
some applications of funds into account, the aid received by Gipuzkoa
for the period 1986-1999 is as follows:

Twenty-four
percent of the funding was destined to employment-training-reinsertion,
25.7% to improving highways, 16.5% to increasing competitiveness,
19.3% to environment, mainly water supply and treatment, 7.4% to
R & D proj-ects and 7.1% to urban and cross-border
development.
